No grounds to book actor Lakshmipriya, woman cop on Ansiba Hassan’s complaint, says ACP’s report - The HinduPublished - June 10, 2026 01:26 pm IST - KOCHIAnsiba Hassan | Photo Credit: special arrangementThe Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) has ruled out the possibility of registering a case over a complaint filed by actor Ansiba Hassan against fellow actor Lakshmipriya and a female police officer of the Thripunithura women’s cell.The ACP has submitted a report to the District Police Chief (Kochi City) Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar stating that there were no grounds to proceed with the complaint, a city police officer confirmed on Wednesday.Ms. Hassan, a former joint secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), had in her complaint accused AMMA vice-president Lakshmipriya of filing a false complaint against her and sub-inspector Reshma of subjecting her to harassment and unlawful detention in the name of verifying the allegations against her.The ACP submitted his report after a preliminary investigation, which included recording the statements of the people involved and examining CCTV footage from the Thripunithura station. The officer has reportedly informed the District Police Chief that Ms. Lakshmipriya filed the complaint against Ms. Hassan based on an ambiguous message sent by her that allegedly caused troubles in Ms. Lakshmipriya’s family. The woman police officer only discharged her duty by calling Ms. Hassan to the station for verifying the allegations and there was no question of unlawful detention, the ACP reportedly informed his superior officer.The ACP had recorded the statement of Ms. Hassan on May 31.The police are also of the view that the complaint filed by Ms. Lakshmipriya against Ms. Hassan does not merit the registration of an FIR.Will move court: AnsibaResponding to the ACP’s report, Ms. Hassan, meanwhile, said she would move the court with her complaint. She said she decided to file a police complaint as she felt “insulted” with the act of SI Reshma who allegedly allowed Ms. Lakshmipriya and her husband to join her while “interrogating” her in the name of verifying the complaint against her.She reiterated that she was made to write an apology to Ms. Lakshmipriya and that the sub inspector did not allow her to keep a copy of the letter with her initially.The latest development comes a day after Ms. Hassan recorded her statement before the Kadavanthra police in a separate complaint filed against fellow actor and AMMA executive member Tini Tom for making alleged communal remarks and derogatory comments against her.Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Ms. Hassan said she would approach the court if the police failed to register a case against Mr. Tom.
