Samsung is reportedly planning to improve the tap-to-pay experience on Galaxy phones, starting with the Galaxy S26 series next year. This move is aimed at matching iPhones in terms of mobile payments. The South Korean firm is reportedly planning to add an NFC antenna at the top of the phone.Galaxy S26's Samsung Wallet payments experience could match Apple PayAccording to a report from ETNews, the Galaxy S26 series will feature the existing NFC coil at the back of the phone but have an additional NFC antenna at the top of the device. This will make it easier for users to tap their phones at point-of-sale (PoS) machines at ticket counters, retail stores, and other places where people pay for things using Samsung Wallet (formerly called Samsung Pay).Current Galaxy phones have an NFC coil at the back (beside the camera), so users have to twist the phone slightly to make a payment. Sometimes, even when the phone is aligned properly on a PoS machine with an NFC reader, payments can fail. Apparently, Apple has several patents related to the placement of the NFC antenna for mobile payments, so it took Samsung quite some time to circumvent those patents. The Galaxy S26's design, featuring the new NFC antenna placement, hasn't entered the production stage yet. So, there is still some room for last-minute changes. If the changes are final, upcoming high-end Galaxy phones from Samsung could significantly improve the mobile payment experience for Samsung Wallet users. That could help improve Samsung Wallet's miniscule market share in the USA.Some earlier reports claimed that Samsung is bringing a massive change with the Galaxy S26 lineup. Usually, Galaxy S series contains three models: base, Plus, and Ultra. The Galaxy S26 series, though, reportedly consists of the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra. So, the base and Plus models could be discontinued. The post Galaxy S26 could bring improved Samsung Wallet experience for payments appeared first on SamMobile.
