HighlightsIn early 2025, Mali’s political landscape underwent a major shift following a Presidential Decree on 13 May dissolving all political parties.Tensions escalated in late March near Tinzawaten after a FAMa drone crash and airstrikes on armed groups, straining Mali–Algeria relations and threatening the Algeria–Kidal–Timbuktu–Gao humanitarian corridor.Over 1.5 million children under five are acutely malnourished, including 314,893 with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM). Of these, 222,864 are targeted for treatment—a 10% increase from 2024. UNICEF and partners treated 72,131 SAM cases, including 38,859 girls, through health facilities, mobile clinics, and community platforms.Despite limited resources, 41,514 children (including 19,654 girls) and 2,377 caregivers (including 2,377 women) received mental health and psychosocial support, and 14,553 people accessed safe channels to report sexual exploitation and abuse.By June 2025, 2,036 schools were closed due to insecurity, affecting 610,800 students and 12,216 teachers.
