On Saturday evening, she reportedly went up to the terrace while talking on the phone around 2:30 am. Locals on night patrol noticed her and, growing suspicious, mistook her for a thief. Some youths even attempted to climb up to the terrace as they shone flashlights at her.According to the police, in a state of panic and unable to open the terrace door, she jumped from the first floor in an attempt to escape. The mob allegedly tied her to a pole and continued to beat her until the police arrived and took her into custody.The police said that the residents of the Baradari area had been keeping nighttime watch due to a recent increase in thefts.According to the police the woman sustained a leg fracture after jumping from the first floor and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bareilly, where doctors have described her condition as stable.On Sunday, the police arrested four individuals, all in their 20s, who are allegedly involved in the incident.
