After the CM’s announcement, a group of youths learnt to have gone to pay gratitude to BJP’s Haridwar MP Trivendra Singh Rawat for supporting their demand, crediting him for the CBI probe decision. Some excited supporters even put up hoardings, hailing Rawat for the same. Later, Rajya Sabha member Naresh Bansal in a social media post said he had met Dhami and requested for a CBI probe. On the other hand, the Uttarakhand BJP unit celebrated the decision by bursting crackers and distributing sweets, giving full credit to the CM.Noteworthy GiftThe auction of 250-odd presidential gifts, which was supposed to end on Tuesday, has been extended till October 15, in a bid to generate more responses and higher bids. The gifts received by five presidents — Pratibha Patil, A P J Abdul Kalam, Ramnath Kovind, Pranab Mukherjee and Droupadi Murmu — are part of the auction, the proceeds of which, as per officials, will go to causes aimed at women and children. The presents from foreign dignitaries have been kept out of the auction. A replica of Rs 10,000 banknote released in 1935, featuring King George VI, presented to Mukherjee, is among the items getting the maximum traction. With a base price of Rs 5,000, the item has received 56 bids so far, Rs 10 lakh being the maximum offer, it is learnt.Clean ActDifferent departments have been organising events to promote cleanliness as part of the 15-day-long ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign that commenced on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17. On Monday, the Department of Food and Public Distribution organised a street play to raise awareness about cleanliness among its staff.
