Bolt has become the first ride-hailing app in Malta to make its services fully available in the Maltese language, marking a major milestone for local accessibility and inclusion.The update allows users to book rides, check safety features, and navigate the app entirely in Maltese – making it easier and more intuitive for locals who prefer using the national language.Maltese isn’t just an official EU language; it’s also the only Semitic language written in Latin script and remains the everyday language for most people on the islands. Bolt said the decision was about more than convenience. “While English is widely spoken in Malta, Maltese remains the language of the heart for many people,” a spokesperson explained, adding that the change reflects respect and representation as much as functionality.The company said this rollout forms part of its broader mission to make mobility inclusive in every sense – not just physically, but also linguistically and culturally. By localising the app, Bolt says it’s embracing Malta’s identity and reaffirming its long-term commitment to the islands.The Maltese version of the Bolt app is now live on both Android and iOS.
