Segona: I Received Info About Kavule Undermining me & I Confronted Bobi Wine About It Over Walukagga Bid

By Mulengera ReportersIn his ongoing media offensive, Busiro East MP Medard Segona on Wednesday evening appeared on Kabaka’s 89.2fm CBS radio and continued registering his disappointment over the humiliation to which he was subjected. Apparently, Segona has been emboldened by overwhelming support Ugandans have extended towards him on social media with many of them claiming it disrespectful for him to be made to fight for the NUP ticket with a low-grade politician like singer Mathias Walukagga. During his CBS radio appearance on Wednesday, Segona said he got intelligence reports from inside Kavule to the effect that Walukagga (who all along had been his close ally) was instigated by Bobi Wine personally to go stand in Busiro East in order to contradict and humiliate him. Segona says this only corroborated what Mathias Walukagga had already been saying in the constituency as he moved around whereby, he went about bragging and telling residents he had specifically been instigated by Bobi Wine personally who assured him the ticket would be his. A low-grade politician in all measure, Walukagga (famous for his pro-social justice songs) has been serving as the Mayor for Kyengera/Nsangi town council, a seat which he won in 2021 on the NUP ticket by campaigning jointly with Medard Segona. As of that time emerging from the COVID lockdown, Walukagga was as poor as a church mouse and barely had anything. The solidarity and jointly campaigning with Segona eased things a lot for him. However, the hitherto down to earth Mathias Walukagga all of a sudden shocked many when he unexpectedly rose up and declared interest in ousting Segona, which many initially thought was just celebrity banter. Walukagga, however, shocked people even more when he remained unfazed when moneybags Emmanuel Matovu Magoola defected from ANT to NUP and expressed interest in ousting Segona. The incumbent Segona now says that the confidence with which Mathias Walukagga has been speaking and moving around was deriving from the original assurances he received from Bobi Wine. Segona, who has refused to accept the verdict of the party favouring Mathias Walukagga, says he confronted Mr. Wine about the musician being his personal proxy in the Busiro East flag bearer race. “He trivialized it all by asking me for proof that he indeed ever said those things to Walukagga. I told him ‘I don’t have any such proof but I can repeat it infront of Walukagga because that’s what he has been telling people everywhere.’ I expected him to convene a meeting of myself, himself and Walukagga and we have this matter resolved but he didn’t,” Segona told millions of listeners during the very popular CBS radio programme on which he appeared along with Aisha Kabanda, the NUP deputy Secretary General. Segona now says there was always conspiracy against him by Bobi Wine and has made it clear that the principal determined to get rid of credible veteran politicians inside his NUP party way before even the Mathias Mpuuga issue of Shs500m came up. Aisha Kabanda defended the party by saying that, much as the whole country believes that Segona is a high-quality politician, the truth is that his popularity in the constituency had demonstrably declined and there was a high risk of the party losing that Busiro East MP Seat if the card wasn’t given to someone else. She added that the decision to give the ticket to Mathias Walukagga was the right one because Segona, who was appearing in the studios with her, no longer has what it takes to win back that MP Seat for the NUP party.
