One of Disney’s most unique experiences has officially closed.Credit: D23Related: Disney World Just Dropped a Dolly Parton Holiday BombshellThe personalized Avatar action figure maker has closed at Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The experience officially closed inside the Windtraders gift shop on October 1, 2025.The experience allowed guests to create their own custom Avatar action figures using facial scanning technology. Guests would sit down and get scanned by cast members. They were then allowed to make several different choices, like hair type, eye color, and stripe pattern. The figure would then take an hour to “grow” before being ready to be picked up.Much like the lightsaber experience at Savi’s Workshop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the custom Avatar creator was designed to be very immersive. Guests were not just paying for a product but an actual service, though there’s a lot more “meat” to choosing your lightsaber than crafting an Avatar figurine. This closure follows a heavy discount earlier this year, which slashed the price of a custom Avatar figure from $79.99 to $50. It had long been rumored that the experience was not as popular as Disney had expected.Disney offers a similar experience in the TRON Lightcycle / Run gift shop, allowing customers to create their own personalized Tron action figures. These figures were also discounted earlier this year. It’s unclear if Disney has similar plans for its Tron Identity Program as the now-defunct Avatar maker, but guests wanting to make their own custom Tron figure may want to do so sooner rather than later. The Avatar experience had a part of Pandora since it opened at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2017.Disney is currently developing a new West Coast Pandora for Disneyland Resort. Work is expected to officially kick off in 2026. The new version of Pandora will be located inside Disney California Adventure, taking over the spot of various attractions and locations, namely Monsters Inc. Mike and Sully to the Rescue, which will permanently close early next year.Stay tuned here for all Walt Disney World news and updates. The post BREAKING: Disney World Permanently Closes ‘Avatar’ Experience After 8 Years appeared first on Inside the Magic.
