The rapper, now the first-ever brand ambassador for Bottega Veneta and recently tapped as global ambassador for Samsung Art TV, reflected on how his relationship with the camera has shifted. “Back then, I wanted to look photogenic, so I’d practice poses and expressions alone in front of the mirror,” he said (Via Osen) “Now, having my picture taken feels heavier, more of a task.” Still, he said, teaming up with familiar names, “favourite media, photographers, staff”, made the process easier. “Once I did it, I felt proud. I even enjoyed it.”Also read: ‘We bet on J-Hope after Doja Cat said no’: Lollapalooza organiser admits not realising how big BTS was; Katseye rules the fest three years laterBTS RM on moments he feels “most alive”The rapper, known for answering questions with a kind of blunt honesty that even he admits makes his agency squirm sometimes, was asked what makes him feel most alive, especially now, with the spotlight constantly on him. RM revealed two sides of himself: “As RM of BTS, it’s when I’m performing, or when I just released an album, or when I stand in front of my fans in my most confident and proud way.” But then there’s the other side, as Kim Namjoon, who craves the quiet, the unbothered life. “As Kim Namjoon, it’s when I feel like I’m becoming closer to my true self without hesitation while being with people I like. Or when I’m doing what I want in a place where no one recognises me.” Namjoon’s thing for travel and wandering through art galleries isn’t a secret, but he’s honest about the limits of it. “Travelling seems to be the closest thing to that, but honestly, I can’t stay long and want to come home soon. And working on music again makes me feel alive again.”RM has spoken in the past about the strange mix of love and resentment that fame brings. As the leader of one of the most influential groups in the world, he’s been honest about the weight that comes with it. He’s questioned why so many musicians write about love, and why they keep returning to it. In a 2023 appearance on Cold’s Blue Room, he said, “As we’re living in a social world, it’s become very easy to express emotions of hatred and despise. I think it’s gross to see someone who has so much hateful energy toward someone else. I mean, of course, we can talk about sadness and hatred, but at the end of the day, speaking of love and spreading love and positive energy is a virtue, and that’s what I believe so.”Story continues below this adOn the work front, BTS is gearing up for a 2026 comeback with a new album.
