The Sensex closed 79 points, or 0.10 per cent, higher at 80,623.26, while the Nifty 50 settled at 24,596.15, up 22 points, or 0.09 per cent. The BSE Midcap index rose 0.30 per cent. However, the BSE Smallcap index slipped 0.18 per cent.
