A new internal poll, leaked to Times of Malta, reveals that Alex Borg is currently leading in public opinion as the preferred leader of the Nationalist Party. However, Adrian Delia is steadily gaining ground, particularly among Nationalist voters.According to sources close to the PN, while Borg remains the favourite among Labour voters, Delia has a slight edge over Borg within the Nationalist Party. The poll, conducted by statistician Vince Marmarà, surveyed voters across Malta and found that 36.6% preferred Borg, while 27% leaned towards Delia.Despite this, over a third of respondents (36%) expressed no clear preference, with significant numbers saying neither candidate (16.6%) or not sure (13.3%).This marks the first poll of its kind that sheds light on how the wider voting public views the two candidates, following an earlier poll among party members that had shown Borg in a stronger position. The survey was conducted through telephone and mobile interviews with 500 individuals aged 16 and over, ensuring a representative sample based on age, gender, and district, with a 95% confidence level and a margin of error of +/- 4.4%.Borg’s support is strongest in his home district of Gozo and Comino, where he leads with 44.4%, while his weakest support is found in the southeastern district (32.8%). Delia, on the other hand, is most popular in the northern district, with 34.3% of the vote, and least popular in Gozo, where he holds just 15.6%.The southeastern district also saw the highest percentage of undecided voters, with 26.7% preferring neither candidate. Borg’s support is particularly strong among the 16-25 age group (50%), with his popularity waning among older age groups.Delia’s support remains more consistent across age groups, ranging from 31.8% among 26-35-year-olds to 22% in the 56-65 age group. He is also more popular among men (29%) than women (26%), while Borg enjoys more support from women (38%) than men (35%).•
