A three-year-old girl was killed after being hit by a garbage collection tractor in Medipally village of Yacharam mandal on Monday afternoon.The incident was reported around 3.30 p.m. when the child, identified as Vannadapu Avanthika, was playing in front of her house.According to the Hyderabad Green Pharma City police, a speeding panchayat garbage tractor travelling from Nakkertha Hanuman Temple turned sharply in front of the complainant’s house before hitting the child. The vehicle was operated by the 46-year-old Morugu Jangaiah.Avanthika sustained severe injuries. She was rushed to a private hospital in Vanasthalipuram by her mother, where doctors declared her brought dead.A case was booked against Jangaiah and further investigation is under way.Published - August 13, 2025 07:32 pm IST
