Renowned city-based artist L.S.N. Achar, 86, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday following a brief illness.He is survived by his wife, a daughter, and two sons. He initially learned jewellery-making from his father, Lakshminarayana Achar, but chose not to pursue it professionally. Instead, he learnt sculpture and subsequently started painting and was known for his landscape works. He also did illustrations for various publications.Though, he graduated in Law Achar preferred not to take it up as a career, joined the Department of Land Records and retired as its Deputy Director, but the artistic passion in him did not diminish and found expression through painting.He was a member of the Karnataka Lalithakala Academy and a recipient of its award apart from being honoured by various organisations, in recognition of his works.Published - August 13, 2025 07:53 pm IST
