Samsung Wallet, which combines Samsung Pay and the company's digital wallet solution, has been a major hit in many markets across the globe. It's understandably done very well in the company's home country of South Korea. As the service reached its 10th anniversary in the country today, the latest figures reveal that almost 19 million people use Samsung Wallet for their digital payments in South Korea. Samsung Wallet sees incredible growth in South KoreaThe service was first launched as Samsung Pay in South Korea back in August 2015. Samsung Electronics revealed today that a decade later, more than 18.6 million people in South Korea use the service. It has seen remarkable growth since launch when local users were estimated to be at 1.6 million in the first year. The latest numbers highlight that a third of all people in South Korea use Samsung Wallet for their transactions. The value of transactions processed through the service crossed $63.6 billion in 2024, showcasing a sustained upward trend over the past few years.The company offers Samsung Wallet in 60 countries across the globe, including in important markets like the United States, where it has expanded offerings to include buy-now-pay-later services as well as effortless money transfers between users.
