Samsung launches world’s first 500Hz OLED gaming monitor in the USA

Samsung has launched the world's first OLED gaming monitor with a 500Hz refresh rate in the USA. The South Korean firm also launched two more gaming monitors, the 37-inch and 40-inch variants of the Odyssey G7, in the country.The Odyssey OLED G6, which was announced earlier this year and has been available in other countries, is priced at $1,000 in the USA. The 37-inch and 40-inch variants of the Odyssey OLED G7 are priced at $900 and $1,200, respectively. All three monitors can be purchased from Samsung USA's website.Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SF or G600S) The Odyssey OLED G6 is a 27-inch QD-OLED monitor with a QHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) resolution, a 0.03ms response time, a 500Hz variable refresh rate, and HDR. It supports both AMD FreeSync Premium Plus and Nvidia G-Sync.It features HDR10+ Gaming and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification. Samsung says it can reach a peak brightness of up to 1,000 nits, but its typical brightness is 300 nits. The monitor has UL Glare Free coating for reducing glare and reflections.If you are worried about pixel burn-in issues, the company says the monitor features Samsung OLED Safeguard+ and a three-year warranty. OLED Safeguard+ takes several measures, including liquid cooling, dynamic screen brightness adjustment, logo and taskbar detection, and screensaver, to reduce possibilities of facing pixel burn-in issues.It is a Pantone Validated monitor, which means it should ideally offer pretty accurate colors out of the box. It has RGB lighting on the back and a stand that supports height, pivot, swivel, and tilt adjustments. It is compatible with VESA 100 x 100 mounts.The Odyssey OLED G6 has two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 port, one 3.5mm headphone port, one USB 3.2 Type-B upstream port, and two USB 3.2 Type-A downstream ports. Other features of the monitor include Black Equalizer, Eye Saver Mode, Flicker Free, Super Arena Gaming UX, and Virtual Aim Point.37-inch and 40-inch Odyssey G7 The 37-inch Odyssey G7 gaming monitor has a curved VA panel with 4K resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, 165Hz refresh rate, and a 1000R curvature. The 40-inch version of the monitor features a curved VA panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio, a 1000R curvature, and a 180Hz refresh rate. They both have a 3,000:1 contrast ratio.Both monitors feature AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification. They can display HDR content and have HDR10+ Gaming and VESA DisplayHDR 600 certifications. Other gaming features of these monitors include Black Equalizer, Core Sync, Off Timer Plus, Super Arena Gaming UX, and Virtual Aim Point.They have two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 port, one 3.5mm headphone port, one USB 3.2 Type-B upstream port, and two USB 3.2 Type-A downstream ports.
