Tripura Police nab Bangladeshi infiltrator in Agartala, produce him in court

(Source: File/ Representational)The Tripura Police arrested a Bangladeshi infiltrator in Agartala’s Arundhuti Nagar on Sunday.The arrested Bangladeshi national was identified as Sohag Rana, 21.“We came to know that a Bangladeshi national is roaming in the Arundhuti Nagar area. On the basis of this secret information, we arrested him. We lodged a case against him and produced him before the court,” said a police officer in the Arundhuti Nagar police station.Rana has reportedly confessed that he came from Bangladesh but failed to produce any documents. The police were yet to find out his motive behind entering India.Earlier this year, the state government formed Special Task Forces (STFs) in all districts to identify and deport illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and Rohingya persons.Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, who also holds the Home portfolio, said that the Special Task Forces were formed to find out if there was any infiltration since 2014 or if there were any recent cases of illegal immigration.“I said earlier that no one would be allowed to illegally enter Tripura. As per our latest information, a very minimal number of foreigners have illegally entered Tripura.
