Whether fans want to believe it or not, Disney has a budget for its parks, and going beyond that budget is sometimes impossible. Despite fans’ desire for Disney to improve every ride and attraction at once, there just isn’t enough money to do that. Credit: DisneySure, Disney is spending billions on its domestic theme parks, but that doesn’t mean every ride that needs an update is getting one. Some tough decisions have to be made. That brings us to a new rumor about the next Disney World attraction update. With the D23 Expo coming up, there are all sorts of rumors about what Josh D’Amaro plans to announce, but until he does, these are just rumors. That leaves EPCOT, the seemingly forgotten park in all this updating madness. With Test Track just having completed its refurbishment and Spaceship Earth shutting down later this month for its extended refurbishment, two obvious candidates are in desperate need of a retheme. Credit: DisneyDisney’s choices are Journey into Imagination with Figment and The Seas with Nemo and Friends. The Seas opened 18 years ago, and Figment was last updated over 20 years ago. Both are in desperate need of a refresh. According to a new rumor, The Seas will be the next ride on EPCOT’s list to get a retheme. This is both a curse and a blessing for Figment fans. Originally, Figment was set to be rethemed with the potential return of the Dreamfinder from the original ride, but Test Track’s redo pushed that back. Now, The Seas with Nemo and Friends will push a Figment refresh until next year, and perhaps later. However, even the most diehard Journey Into Imagination fans would agree that the ride desperately needs an update. All of these rumors will go away at the end of the month when D’Amaro makes his announcements at the D23 Expo. What ride do you think should be the next to get an update at EPCOT?
