On 31 July, Russia launched drones and missiles against Kyiv, killing at least 31 people, including five children, and injuring 159, including 16 children.Operational UpdatesIn July, WFP reached 1.1 million beneficiaries, mostly along the frontline, through a combination of in-kind food (nearly 492,000 people) and cash-based transfers (over 585,000 people).Humanitarian Mine ActionIn early July, (before cabinet reshuffle), WFP held discussions with the Deputy Minister of Economy on a proposed MoU with the Centre of Humanitarian Demining to support government compensation for farmers affected by explosive ordnance, while also coordinating with the Resident Coordinator’s office to develop a One UN approach to mine action, ensuring unified international support for demining that will restore agricultural productivity and enable safe food production in conflict-affected regions.WFP's mine action Cooperating Partners – Fondation suisse de déminage (FSD), HALO Trust, Mines Advisory Group (MAG), and Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) – have made progress in making agricultural land safe and productive again. To date, 8,149 ha of agricultural land have been surveyed, with 21.5 percent of this identified as having no evidence of explosive ordnance, and 1,271 ha released for safe use through technical survey, clearance, and cancellation efforts. These efforts have directly benefited 71,473 people, with an additional 317,551 people receiving Explosive Ordnance Risk Education. By releasing land, WFP's mine action program directly supports the restoration of livelihoods at both the farm and household levels, supporting over 1,300 households through WFP's Quick Impact Self-Resilience projects (QISP), and over 4,500 households and 421 farms through FAO livelihood programming.Grain from Ukraine for Ukraine projectMilling operations continue under the Grain from Ukraine for Ukraine project, with 3,474 mt of fortified wheat flour having been produced by two millers, as of 31 July.
