THE RUNDOWNTaylor Swift joined Travis and Jason Kelce on New Heights in her first-ever podcast appearance.The couple discussed how their relationship began and their impressions of each other.The episode also marked the announcement of Swift’s upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl.Taylor Swift made her first-ever appearance on the New Heights podcast, joining her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason, for an episode released today. Sitting side-by-side for the conversation, Swift and Travis offered rare on-air comments about their relationship.They started the podcast by talking about how New Heights brought them together. Swift spoke about that being the reason she wanted to go on the podcast.“This podcast got me a boyfriend ever since Travis decided to use it as a personal dating app two years ago,” she said. In July 2023, Travis spoke on New Heights about trying and failing to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it during her Kansas City, Missouri Eras Tour show.“I’ve never seen the original [friendship bracelet],” she admitted, quipping that Travis “threw a man tantrum” and left the stadium. She noted he did not contact her management ahead of the show. “This dude didn’t get a meet and greet, and he’s making it everyone’s problem,” she joked. “He didn’t reach out to management.”Still, she called it “such a wild romantic gesture to just be like ‘I want to date you’” so publicly. “I’m not an online person at all. I’m not on social media like that,” she added. “I’m genuinely terrified to open my DMs.” At the same time, “this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting happen to me ever since I was a teenager.” So she met him, and the rest is history.“It was wild but it worked,” she said. “I’m glad it worked. I’m just circling back to New Heights to say thank you for this,” and then she gestured to Travis.Her favorite things about him include “the way he could make me laugh so immediately… Travis is just a vibe booster in everyone’s life he’s in. He’s a human exclamation point.” She also told him, “You’re so nonjudgmental about people and you were nonjudgemental [about me not knowing anything about football]...You were so nice.”During her time dating him, “I fell in love with it [football]. I became obsessed with it.”In a clip shared on the New Heights Instagram earlier today, Swift thanked Jason for his lengthy, high-energy introduction, telling him, “That was so good! Thank you for screaming for like 47 seconds for me. That was so nice.”Travis jumped in to say, “Tay Tay, welcome to New Heights,” to which Swift jokingly replied, “You guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast, and I think we all know that if there’s one thing that male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens, it’s more of me.”The pair also shared a more personal moment in another clip, when Swift complimented the color of Travis’s shirt, saying, “That’s such a nice color on you.”“It’s the color of your eyes, sweetie. It’s why we match so well,” Travis replied.Their conversation echoed Travis’s recent GQ cover story interview, where he spoke about how their relationship developed.“When there is not a camera on us, we’re just two people that are in love,” he said. “It can be perceived as something else because of how much it is talked about and how much we are tracked whenever we do go out, but I would say that...it happened very organically, even though from a media standpoint it was being tracked. It still happened very organically.”
