President Irfaan Ali and other leaders of the incumbent PPP/C used the party’s rally in Bartica to pay tribute to educator Daniel Williams, who died tragically last Monday night while addressing a public meeting at Agatash, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).“He died in service. He died fighting for a better Guyana…convincing people about what that better Guyana should be. He died in service to Guyana, and we honour him and we honour you, his family. We thank you for sharing him with us,” President Ali said.Williams was the headmaster of the Three Miles Secondary School in Bartica and a candidate for the PPP in the 2025 elections.Daniel Williams“This party, this country will stand with you, and you will see the work of Daniel in the work of this government. Every single child that will benefit from a scholarship, every road that will be built – we will never forget that he was part of this journey to transformation,” the President added.Vice President of Guyana and PPP General Secretary Dr Bharrat Jagdeo led a minute of silence for Williams and also paid tribute to him. Williams’ family, including his wife and children, sat on stage with the leadership of the PPP/C during the rally.Several opposition politicians also paid tribute to Williams during the week, following his passing.APNU’s Prime Ministerial candidate and Bartician, Juretha Fernandes, described him as a “worthy political opponent” who engaged with quiet determination rather than aggression.“Even when we disagreed, there was mutual respect.
