Retail inflation eases to over 8-year low of 1.55% in July aided by cooling food prices

India’s retail inflation fell to 1.55% in July, the lowest since June 2017 and below the Reserve Bank of India’s 2%–6% tolerance band for the first time in over six years, government data showed. The reading was down from 3.16% in April and 3.54% in July 2024, and lower than the 1.76% forecast in a Reuters poll.
