Still, over the past year, energy prices declined 0.8%.Gasoline prices helped drive the jump in energy prices. The BLS reported on Tuesday that the gasoline index increased 1% over the month in June on a seasonally adjusted basis after a decline of 2.6% in May. Without the adjustment, gasoline prices increased just 0.1% in June. Compared with a year ago, gas prices fell 8.3% in June.
