There's been a lot of speculation about Apple's foldable iPhone. The company is yet to enter this segment which Samsung has dominated, but it's believed to have a foldable in the pipeline that could be launched at some point next year. It's also been widely reported that Samsung Display will provide the foldable display panels for that device, and its production timeline might provide a hint as to when the foldable iPhone may finally be released. Foldable iPhone release expected in H2 2026Korean media is reporting that Samsung Display intends to start production of OLED panels for the foldable iPhone in the fourth quarter of this year. The production will be ramped up to meet the launch timeline for the device which sources claim will be in the second half of next year. Apple has reportedly selected Samsung Display as the sole provider of panels for the foldable iPhone. It's entirely within the realm of possibility, as Samsung Display is one of the very few companies that can provide such panels at the scale Apple needs them, and perhaps the only that can meet its stringent technological requirements. Samsung Display is reportedly converting its Asan, South Chungcheong, manufacturing line into an Apple-dedicated facility. This would suggest that the company is confident that Apple may continue to stick with it for the foreseeable future, until such time as other manufacturers can provide the panels in the quality and quantity it requires, which may take some time.
