After years of closure, a long-forgotten land at Universal Studios is finally open again.Just like Disney, Universal’s theme parks are always changing. With resorts in Hollywood (the OG), Orlando, Japan, Singapore, and Beijing – and another on the way in the U.K. in the future, plus Universal Horror Unleashed locations in Las Vegas and Chicago – Universal has spent the last few years heavily investing in its theme parks, with new attractions and lands opening across the globe. The biggest development in recent years has, of course, been the opening of Epic Universe. As Universal Orlando Resort’s third theme park, it not only expands the resort’s capacity but also introduces several new IPs to the Florida theme park scene. In Isle of Berk, guests can dive into the world of How to Train Your Dragon – even riding a dragon in the process – while Dark Universe welcomes guests into the spectacularly spooky world of Universal Classic Monsters.Credit: UniversalHowever, this isn’t the only major Universal addition in 2025. Further afield, Universal Studios Singapore debuted its Minions Land earlier this year – complete with yet another version of Despicable Me Minion Mayhem – while Universal Studios Japan added its own version of Universal Studios Florida’s Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast last week.Universal Studios Japan Reopens Long-Closed LandBeyond the Minions, Universal Studios Japan has quietly restored an entire land that has been closed since 2020.This week, the Osaka theme park reopened the entirety of Snoopy Studios. The kids-oriented land – which had only partially reopened in the wake of COVID-19 – has had a partial makeover and debuted to guests today.Credit: Universal“Director Snoopy’s movie studio has been upgraded!” the park says on its website. “Venture farther and farther into the comical yet heartwarming world of Peanuts by going for a thrilling ride inspired by the Flying Ace, a character Snoopy portrays in the comics, or heading to Playland, where you can immerse yourself in the world of the Beagle Scouts led by Snoopy. You can even visit Charlie Brown’s House!”Snoopy Studios is a subsection of the park’s Universal Wonderland and is largely a play area where guests can explore the world of the Beagle Scouts, led by Snoopy. With its reopening, the park has debuted Snoopy’s Flying Ace Adventure, an indoor roller coaster once known as Snoopy’s Great Race.As per Universal, the ride is “inspired by the famous Flying Ace, one of Snoopy’s most iconic characters” and sees guests “board a red-roofed doghouse like in the comics and soar through the imaginary world of the Flying Ace in search of his arch-nemesis, the Red Baron, in a small adventure that’s sure to make a very big impression!”Credit: Universal Studios JapanThe reopening of Snoopy Studios ushers in the beginning of the park’s Super Snoopy Fiesta, which celebrates the 75th anniversary of the birth of Peanuts. “The upgraded Snoopy Studio will have new rides and corners where you can explore the world of the original story!” Universal says. “There will also be new goods with the ‘Beagle Scout’ motif, and the area will be filled with things that Snoopy fans love!”Super Snoopy Fiesta is set to run from today (July 18) through December 31, 2025.Upcoming Developments at Universal Studios JapanJust like Tokyo Disney Resort, Universal Studios Japan, which actually outperforms Tokyo Disneyland in terms of attendance, has become increasingly popular with international tourists since COVID-19. Combined with the already-passionate local crowd, that means the park is often filled with dense crowds. The good news, however, is that there’s still plenty to enjoy, even on the park’s busiest days.Credit: Universal Studios JapanLike most Universal resorts (with the exception of Universal Studios Singapore), Universal Studios Japan is home to its own version of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, complete with Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey inside Hogwarts Castle. This fall, the land will once again allow guests to explore the castle for an up-close look at the magic without actually riding the attraction. The park also has its own Jurassic Park area with a unique roller coaster, The Flying Dinosaur. Most famously, the park boasts the original version of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD and Donkey Kong Country, with three attractions: Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, Yoshi’s Adventure, and Mine Cart Madness. While nothing is confirmed, the park reportedly plans to add more attractions in the future. “We will develop in accordance with the market,” said Taku Murayama, the new head of the operator at Universal Studios Japan, in June. Notably, the park celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2026.Do you plan on visiting Universal Studios Japan anytime soon? The post After 5 Long Years, Universal Studios Suddenly Opens Entire Theme Park Land appeared first on Inside the Magic.
