But no, Trump can’t even stop himself from accidentally admitting he’s on that infamous Epstein list — the one he’s been swearing up and down doesn’t exist. Oh, the irony. Earlier this week, the Department of Justice and FBI released a statement that sent conspiracy theorists into a tailspin. They confirmed, once again, that there is no secret client list tied to Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking operation. That announcement didn’t just debunk theories that have fueled Twitter wars and YouTube rabbit holes for years. It also triggered a good, old-fashioned civil war within Trump’s MAGA base. Some of his staunchest supporters, including former advisors Kash Patel and Dan Bongino, reportedly wanted more Epstein-related files released to the public, but they were overruled. Naturally, this set off a MAGA meltdown. In the middle of the chaos, Donald J. Trump, frantically trying to steer the narrative away from himself, only to crash the entire ship into an iceberg labeled “Epstein.” Posting on Truth Social, Trump tried to dismiss the Epstein files as a distraction cooked up by his political enemies. He rambled about everything from Hillary Clinton to voter fraud, from Pam Bondi to JFK assassination files. Trump essentially admitted that he’s worried about the Epstein files. He called Epstein someone “that nobody cares about” (sure, Don, nobody cares about a global sex-trafficking scandal), but then spent paragraph after paragraph obsessing over why the files are being discussed at all. If that’s not a red flag, I don’t know what is. His critics are already pointing out that his tone reeks of guilt—or at the very least, fear. Why spend so much time and energy denying something that doesn’t exist? And why drag Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, and half of MAGA world into it if it’s a non-issue? Trump’s own words have become a flashing neon sign saying, “There’s more to this story.” Even his supporters are split. Some are doubling down on their belief that the Epstein scandal is a deep-state conspiracy targeting Trump. Others, however, are starting to question why their leader seems so desperate to squash the conversation. At the end of the day, Trump is his own worst enemy. His inability to let a topic go, combined with his penchant for saying the quiet part out loud, has made the Epstein conversation bigger than ever.
