(AP)The Indian Embassy in Iran issued a fresh travel advisory on Wednesday and urged Indian citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Iran, citing the recent security-related developments. The advisory by India comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East region over the past several weeks.The advisory posted by the Indian embassy on its official X handle urged Indian nationals, who are already there in Iran, to be vigilant with the security developments in the region and avail commercial flights and ferry options if they plan to leave the country.pic.twitter.com/boZI4hAVin— India in Iran (@India_in_Iran) July 15, 2025The Indian embassy in its directive stated, “In view of the security-related developments over the past several weeks, Indian nationals are advised to carefully consider the evolving situation before undertaking non-essential travel to Iran.”Also Read | India expresses ‘deep concern’, issues advisories to citizens in Israel, Iran: ‘Stay vigilant, avoid unnecessary movements’The Indian Embassy in Iran further advised the citizens to “continue to monitor the latest regional developments and follow updated advisories issued by the Indian authorities.”For the Indian nationals currently in Iran and if they wish to return, the embassy detailed the available options in the Islamic country. “Indian nationals already in Iran, and interested in leaving, may avail the commercial flight and ferry options which are available right now,” the embassy stated.The advisory follows a sharp rise in hostilities that began with Israel launching ‘Operation Rising Lion’ against Iran on June 13, targeting Tehran’s nuclear facilities among other areas.Iran also retaliated with drones and missile attacks against Israeli targets.
