While the main accused in the rape case was detained earlier this month, another accused was detained on Thursday and a search is on for the third, police said. In her statement before a magistrate earlier, however, the girl had denied the involvement of one of the accused, police said.On Thursday, the girl’s mother told the police that there had been an argument between her and her daughter on Tuesday. “Prima facie, it appears that it was over this argument that the girl apparently died by suicide. Further investigation is underway,” said Circle Officer (CO) Poornima Singh.Police said that earlier this month, the girl had been sent for medical examination and her statement had also been recorded before a magistrate.“Her medical examination report (after the alleged sexual assault) did not mention any injury. We have now sent her body for a postmortem and the report is awaited. At the same time, the other three friends of the main accused arrived there on another two-wheeler and took my daughter and son to a secluded room. The four of them raped her,” she told the police.The mother also told the police that she learnt about the assault after her sister-in-law informed her. “My daughter returned to her aunt’s house and confided in her.
