/u/constituent on I made an AMA about attending a private boarding school as a child. Then I got this message.

Wait 5 sec.

And it was also a half-assed compliment! It was a throwaway one-liner of OPs cat. OP's account history has at least six different image posts featuring cats. The CB didn't even bother scroll through OP's history to see the others -- they merely looked at the most-recent posts and saw orange. (I notice below OP also suspects this.) And even that 'compliment' was disingenuous. We know reddit loves cats. Reddit loves cats so much that some people will post cats which don't even belong to them. Or reposts. And cross-posts. Did I mention cats? Sometimes it could be tricky deciphering account history based on image posts alone. I've been served a lot of compliment sandwiches in my lifetime. You can smell the preparation on the cutting board well in advance. There's a particular recipe which will eventually segue into the 'meat' (demand or criticism). The compliment sandwich begins with the bread (compliment), lead into some of the toppings (qualitative remarks) which pair with the bread. And bonus points if you butter up that bread. Slather it on! Then you add the meat (demand/complaint). That's followed with another compliment, which is the other piece of bread to complete the sandwich. The beggar couldn't even stick to the basic recipe. Also, the CB's sandwich used those flimsy end pieces from a loaf of sliced bread. Those butt pieces make terrible sandwiches. Sheesh. If you're going to pile it on to ask for (or criticize) something, at least put some effort. Don't just slap a slice of stale-ass bread onto a chunk of meat, throw it on a plate without garnishes, and serve it up like it's some high-quality meal. That lack of effort makes it even more insulting. I'll never eat at this restaurant again. What a lazy CB chef! 0/5 stars.
