Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) founder and Chidambaram MP Thol. Thirumavalavan on Thursday alleged that attempts were being made to create confusion in the DMK alliance. He was responding to AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s statement that the VCK and the CPI(M) were continuing in the DMK-led alliance despite being insulted by the ruling party, and that the AIADMK was rolling out the red carpet for any party willing to join its alliance.“The remarks were made in order to create confusion in the DMK-led secular alliance,” Mr. Thirumavalavan said.“The DMK-led alliance is strong, and the Opposition alliance has not even taken shape. The AIADMK and the BJP are making contradictory statements. Those opposing the DMK are scattered – that is the truth,” he said.Mr. Thirumavalavan ruled out the possibility of a three-cornered fight in the upcoming election. He also met actor-politician Kamal Haasan, who is set to take oath as a Rajya Sabha MP, and greeted him.Published - July 17, 2025 06:26 pm IST
