A late-night police patrol in Georgetown has led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man after ranks discovered live ammunition hidden inside his car.Police Headquarters reported that at around 21:45 hrs on Tuesday, detectives and other ranks were on mobile patrol duty along Aubrey Barker Road, between Penny Lane and the Festival City entrance, when they intercepted a white Toyota Axio bearing registration number PAC 4181.The driver, identified as Samuel Cole of Kitty, Georgetown, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. A search of his person turned up nothing illegal, but when officers searched the car, they uncovered six live 9mm rounds of ammunition and two spent .32 shells concealed under the front passenger seat in a multi-coloured plastic bag.When questioned, Cole admitted he did not have a firearm licence. He was immediately informed of the offence, cautioned, arrested and escorted to the East La Penitence Police Station where he remains in custody.Police also lodged the vehicle and carried out a search of Cole’s home, but nothing further of evidential value was found.
