Google unveiled its new Pixel phones this week. In typical Pixel fashion, they don't break any performance barriers, but focus on the camera and clever AI and software features to compensate for their less powerful hardware. Some of their features are quite, though, and I think Samsung should copy four features from Pixel 10 phones for future Galaxy S phones.1. 5x optical zoom camera in all Galaxy S models All four Pixel 10 models—Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold—feature a dedicated telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. While the Pixel 10 and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold use a 10MP telephoto camera, the Pixel 10 Pro and the Pixel 10 Pro XL use a 48MP telephoto camera. In comparison, only Galaxy S25 Ultra has a 5x optical zoom camera, while the Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25+ feature a lackluster 3x optical zoom lens paired to an ageing 10MP camera sensor. And the Galaxy S25 Edge doesn't even have a dedicated telephoto camera. There are rumors about Samsung planning to replace the Galaxy S25 with the Galaxy S26 Pro next year. It would be a shame if it doesn't increase the telephoto camera's resolution to 48MP or its optical zoom to 5x. Even future Galaxy S Edge models should ideally have a 5x optical zoom camera.2. Higher resolution selfie camera The Pixel 10 Pro and the Pixel 10 Pro XL feature 42MP front-facing cameras. Apple is also expected to upgrade the selfie camera on its future iPhones, and rumors point to a 24MP sensor for the front-facing camera. While the image quality from the Galaxy S25's 12MP selfie camera is pretty good, Samsung should bring a Pixel 10 Pro-like high-resolution selfie camera to future Galaxy S Ultra models so that it can keep up with the Pixels and the iPhones.3. Qi2 wireless charging with built-in magnets All the new Pixel phones feature built-in magnets and the official Qi2 certification. So, they can charge at 15W and are compatible with Qi2 and Apple MagSafe-certified accessories like car dash/AC vent mounts, charging stands, wallets, and pop sockets. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold even has the Qi2.2 certification for 25W fast wireless charging. In comparison, Samsung's newest high-end phones only have the ‘Qi2 Ready' certification, which means they rely on cases with built-in magnets before you can use Qi2 accessories with them. The South Korean firm has already sent out surveys to some Galaxy users to guage their interest in Qi2 accessories. Hopefully, the Galaxy S26 series brings built-in magnets and a proper Qi2 (or better) certification.4. Journaling feature Google has introduced a new Journal app with its new Pixel phones. Samsung should bring a similar app so that users can note down their thoughts and emotional states as a part of self care. Rather than introducing a whole new app, the company can just bring that feature as an add-on to Samsung Notes, a note-taking app that comes pre-installed on all Galaxy phones and tablets. It would also be great if Samsung can integrate it with Now Brief, Samsung Calendar, Reminders, and Samsung Health, as that will make it easier for users to note down their memories, thoughts, routines, and health information. The post Four features Samsung should copy from Google’s new Pixel phones appeared first on SamMobile.
