A shallow magnitude 5.8 earthquake was reported early evening near Sinabang, Simeulue Regency, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province, Indonesia.According to Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the quake hit on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, at 7:24 pm local time at a shallow depth of 17. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface.
