A sum of ₹26,50,000 in insurance payment was paid to the injured and the kin of the deceased in 14 hit-and-run cases here on Saturday (August 23). Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore said ₹2,00,000 was paid to the legal heirs of the deceased and ₹50,000 was paid to the injured. The amount was credited into their bank accounts, he said. The accident cases had been registered under Denduluru, Eluru Three Town, Bhimadole, Jangareddygudem, Eluru Two Town, Kalidindi, Mudinepalli, Koyyalagudem, Nuzvid Town and Pedavegi police station limits. Thota Veerababu of Nuzvid, who had lost a family member to one of the incidents, thanked the Eluru police for their efforts in disbursing the insurance amount.Published - August 23, 2025 07:58 pm IST
