A five-day bootcamp on ‘IoT Device Programming’ was organised at the GSSS Technology Business Incubator Foundation (GSSS TBIF) here to equip students with practical skills and theoretical knowledge.Targeted at the fifth-semester Electronics and Communication students of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), the bootcamp, which concluded on Friday, was held in collaboration with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Bengaluru, and the ECE Department of GSSSIETW.A release said that the programme was part of the Government of India’s Future Skills Prime initiative to make India a digital talent nation. The participants were guided through topics such as IoT fundamentals; sensors and actuators; microcontroller programming; wireless technologies, including Wi-Fi, Zigbee, and BLE; as well as IoT communication protocols like CoAP, MQTT, and RESTful APIs.The sessions were led by Murugan S., Scientist-D at C-DAC Bengaluru, assisted by Dnyaneshwar, Project Associate, and Pranav Sangar, Project Engineer. Participants were given opportunities to work on mini-projects and apply their learnings in real-time scenarios, the release added.Assessments and an exam were also conducted to evaluate their understanding; the feedback from participants indicated that the combination of theory and hands-on sessions was well received, according to the release.At the valedictory session, A. Hrishikesh, CEO of GSSS TBIF, spoke about the foundation’s incubation facilities and initiatives to support startups and entrepreneurship.Rajendra R. Patil, Head of the E&C Department, said such programmes complement the academic curriculum and nurture innovation, while principal M. Shivakumar urged students to make effective use of incubation support to enhance entrepreneurial skills and benefit from the growing startup ecosystem.The bootcamp not only imparted cutting-edge technical skills, but also inspired students to explore entrepreneurial opportunities in IoT and related domains, the release said.Published - August 23, 2025 07:28 pm IST
