(Photo: The Morning Show/YouTube)Actor Bruce Willis is one of the most celebrated and prolific action stars to ever come out of Hollywood. Films like Armageddon, Die Hard, The Sixth Sense, Pulp Fiction, and The Fifth Element are just some of the great films he has worked in that made him a true icon of the industry. In 2023, his family announced that he had been diagnosed with FTD (Frontotemporal Dementia). The actor’s wife, Emma Heming, recently sat down to talk about her husband and how his health and diagnosis affected everyone around him.During the Good Morning America show, the hosts aired a preview of journalist Diane Sawyer’s interview with Emma, where the latter was talking about her new book, The Unexpected Journey. Through the book, Emma is trying to create awareness about FTD by sharing her experiences of dealing with it. She recalled the time when she took Bruce to the doctor and said, “To leave the doctor’s office with a diagnosis I couldn’t pronounce, and I didn’t really know what it meant, I was just panicking. I don’t think Bruce ever connected the dots, and he remained in great health overall, but his brain was failing him. We have our ways of communicating with him, and we don’t get ‘days’, but we get moments of Bruce being himself.”ALSO READ: Director of this iconic movie almost went bankrupt; lead actor was fired, his replacement nearly died, its sets were destroyed, earned Rs 385 croreEmma added that Bruce just wasn’t himself before the doctor’s visit, and everyone around him felt that something was wrong. “For someone who is very talkative and very engaged, he was just a little more quiet, and when the family would get together, he would just melt. He felt very removed and cold, which is not like Bruce, who is very warm and affectionate. Seeing him go to the complete opposite of that was alarming and scary,” said Emma.Emma Heming said that even though the disease has taken away most of Bruce Willis’ conversational skills and has even caused a childhood stutter to come back, the actor still manages to shine bright through it all. “It’s his laugh, right? He has such a hearty laugh, and sometimes you will see that twinkle in his eyes, or that smirk, and I just get transported. It’s hard to see that, because as quickly as those moments appear, they leave. But I am grateful that my husband is still very much here.”Bruce Wills had been battling aphasia since 2022, and the doctors and family later revealed that it was a symptom of the much more damaging FTD During the preview, Sawyer even shared some old clips of her interviewing Bruce and something he said to her during one of those interactions. He said, “Live it up, every moment of every day. It will be over in a giffersnap.”Click for more updates and latest Hollywood News along with Bollywood and Entertainment updates.
