Keegan Bradley knows all about about the devastation of missing out on a Ryder Cup spot. The US captain will reveal his six captain’s picks on Wednesday ahead of the tournament at Bethpage Black next month.NetflixUS captain Keegan Bradley was the victim of a brutal trick that saw him miss out on the 2023 Ryder Cup[/caption]Scottie Scheffler, JJ Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau have secured the automatic qualification spots with the final six spaces still to be determined.Bradley has the honour of leading Team USA against Europe, a far cry from his disappointment of two years ago in Rome. The 39-year-old was in the mix, or so it seemed, for the USA’s final wildcard pick alongside Sam Burns and Justin Thomas. And although he boasted much-needed Ryder Cup experience, Bradley was snubbed by captain Zack Johnson in favour of Burns and Thomas for the showpiece event. But his disappointment was made even more brutal partly due to his own perceptions after a Netflix camera crew appeared at his house on the morning of the call from Johnson. The crew were filming the lead up to the 2023 Ryder Cup in season two of ‘Full Swing’ – a docuseries centred around the world of elite golf. And Bradley took that as a sign that he had done enough to book his seat on the flight to Rome.“I get a call from Netflix, and they say, ‘Keegan, we got a crew five minutes away from your house’,” Bradley told the Fore Play podcast.“So why would they be sending a camera crew if I am not getting picked?“For the first time, I let my brain think, ‘I did it’. Why would they be rushing a camera crew to my house?”GettyBradley knows world No.1 Scottie Scheffler will play a key role if Team USA are to recapture the Ryder Cup[/caption]He added: “As soon as I picked up the phone, Johnson gave me a, ’Hey Keegan,’ and I looked over at [my wife] Jill one second into the call and was like, ‘No’.“But Johnson was really nice, and then I hung up the phone, but you are all going to see this on [Netflix].“I mean, this is real life. Nobody will have ever seen this call before. It was devastating.”Fast forward a year and Bradley has the honour of making the calls after being chosen as captain in July 2024.Could Bradley pick himself as a wildcard?Bradley is in good form himself having won the Travelers Championship in June among other solid performances. And it just so happens that Bradley has played himself into contention once again for a spot in his team.GettyKeegan Bradley has posted five top ten finishes over the past year[/caption]All will be revealed when he confirms his final picks at 4pm UK time on Wednesday.Bradley may look to focus solely on the demands of captaining his team without the added pressure of competition. But taking his past scars into consideration, the Team USA captain will hope those that miss out this time, are afforded a far less brutal experience than he had to endure two years ago.Asked how emotional it will be during the process of letting players know that they have not made the team, Bradley said: “Really awful. Really, really, truly awful. I’ve been on the wrong side of these calls, on the right side of a couple of them.“I think when you get the call, you know. You know where you stand, you know if it’s close or if you’re going to make it or if you’re probably not.”Bradley then hinted there could be one or two surprises up his sleeve, saying: “But there’s going to probably be a few guys that think they’re going to be on the team that aren’t going to be, I don’t know, and I feel for them.“You know, there’s nothing that we can do other than try to put what we think is the best team on the course. We’ll see if that’s the right decision.”
