The revision follows persistent demands from employee associations, with the Joint Action Committee earlier pressing for a 15 per cent hike.Keeping an average increase of 5 per cent, the Chandigarh Administration has revised the Deputy Commissioner (DC) rates for 2025-2026. Certain categories also witnessed a hike of up to 20–25 per cent in the rate that will come into effect from April 1.The revised wages will benefit nearly 20,000 contractual and outsourced employees working across different departments of the UT. The rates, notified by the DC, will be available for adoption by all government offices, boards, corporations, PSUs and autonomous bodies under the administration, though each organisation will take its own decision on implementation.According to the notification, a beldar drawing Rs 21,600 per month will now receive Rs 22,680, while an AC operator’s pay has been revised from Rs 24,222 to Rs 25,433.Ayushman Mitra’s wages have been increased from Rs 24,222 to Rs 30,850, and a book binder from Rs 25,791 to Rs 30,850. Similarly, the salary of an eye technician has gone up from Rs 18,058 to Rs 25,433, and that of a clerk-cum-receptionist from Rs 25,791 to Rs 30,850.The administration clarified that these are minimum prescribed DC rates, aligned with the pay scales of regular posts.Meanwhile, departments and institutions, depending on duty hours and work conditions, extend additional wages, allowances or facilities at their own discretion.
