Security Council unanimously votes to end UNIFIL mandate in southern Lebanon

The UN Security Council convened today to vote on a resolution ending the UNIFIL mandate in southern Lebanon. The vote passed unanimously with 15 member states voting in favor of the resolution.Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon: "After almost 25 years since the mandate was extended, it is time to dispel the illusion. UNIFIL failed in its mission and allowed Hezbollah to become the most serious threat in the region."
