A 10-year-old boy remains hospitalised after being shot in the chest by his father, who moments earlier fatally shot the child’s mother in a heartbreaking incident on Charlotte Street, Georgetown, on Tuesday.The News Room understands that the boy suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest. Though his condition is stable, doctors continue to keep him under close watch as he recovers from the horrific ordeal.President Dr Irfaan Ali had visited the child at the hospital, offering words of comfort and assuring him that the entire nation stands firmly by his side as he recovers.Police Headquarters reported that the boy’s father, Alroy Solomon, stormed into the Charlotte Street, Georgetown apartment around 11:50 hrs Tuesday, where 36-year-old Teekadai Atiya Solomon lived with her son.UPDATE: Husband chased wife to kill her, shot son in chest after – PoliceWitnesses reported that Alroy’s sudden intrusion triggered screams, followed by a barrage of gunfire. Teekadai attempted to flee onto the street but was chased by Alroy and shot multiple times, collapsing on the roadway.Police said her body bore 10 gunshot wounds – two to her right side abdomen, one to her right index finger, one to her left arm, two to her chest, two to her forehead, one to her right hip and one to her right leg.Alroy then returned to the yard, where he fired a single round at the child. Afterwards, Alroy turned the weapon on himself, inflicting a fatal gunshot wound to the head.The couple, who lived in North East La Penitence, had been separated for about two months due to domestic issues. Teekadai then relocated to Charlotte Street with her son.
