The matches were affected by a wet outfield following overnight showers which leads to a reduction in overs.In the opening clash of the day, Chandigarh Kings registered an 18-run victory over Altruistrians. Put in to bat first, Kings got off to a steady start as skipper Shivam Bhambri (38, 5 fours) and Aarush Bhandari added 41 runs in the powerplay. Bhambri carried the score to 84 before falling lbw in the 11th over. Thereafter, Nikhil Thakur remained unbeaten on 61 off 33 balls with striking five fours and four sixes while Raman Bishnoi’s quickfire 28 off 9 balls gave the innings late impetus. Contributions from Kunal Mahajan (6) and Sanyam Saini (8) powered Kings to 158/4 in 15 overs. Nikhil Thakur was declared Man of the Match Chasing 159, Altruistrians lost opener Arnav Bansal (5) early but skipper Manan Vohra (26) and Gurtaj Singh Bains (11) added 41 runs for the second wicket. Later, their dismissals in quick succession left the side struggling at 57/4. Gaurav Puri and Pardeep Yadav (17) then rebuilt the innings to push the score to 96/5 in the 11th over. Puri kept hopes alive with a brilliant 49 off 26 balls with three fours and four sixes but his dismissal ended Altruistrians’ chances. With unbeaten Nikhil Sharma (17), the side closed at 140/6 in 15 overs falling 18 runs short. For the Kings, Neel Dhaliwal, Nishunk Birla and Armaan Jakhar claimed two wickets each.In the second match of the day, Capital Strikers secured a 23-run victory over Dr Morepen Dazzlers. Opting to bat first, the Strikers were bundled out for119 runs in 15.5 overs. The innings was anchored by opener Arjun Azad who top-scored with a fluent 42 off 26 balls and smashed four boundaries and two sixes. Skipper Raj Angad Bawa supported with a steady 25 while Rupesh Yadav chipped in with a brisk 14.For the Dazzlers, Sunny Singh (4/122) was the pick of the bowlers while Nikhil Kumar bagged 3/29.Chasing 120 for victory, Dr Morepen Dazzlers faltered early when the team lost skipper Mohd Arslan Khan for a duck. The top order collapsed to 25/5 inside within the first six overs. Middle-order batter Bhagmender Lather fought back valiantly with a splendid 50 off 31 balls laced with two boundaries and five sixes but lacked support from the other end.
