(Express FIle)The Bihar Cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod for viability gap funding (VGF) to provide financial aid for international flights from Patna and Gaya airports. The move is likely to increase air connectivity and boost tourism in the state.There will be more flights between Patna and Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal as well as from Gaya International Airport to Sharjah, Bangkok, Singapore and Colombo, Cabinet Secretariat Department’s Additional Chief Secretary S Siddharth told mediapersons.As per the decision, a maximum of Rs 5 lakh will be given as VGF for a round trip of Patna-Kathmandu international flight and up to Rs 10 lakh each will be given as VGF for a round trip between Gaya-Sharjah, Gaya-Bangkok, Gaya-Singapore and Gaya-Colombo, Siddharth said, adding that flights with a minimum capacity 150 passengers will be allowed on these routes.The official said the government has reduced aviation turbine fuel (ATF) to just 1 per cent to make operations more viable for flight operations.© IE Online Media Services Pvt LtdTags:Bihar
