Meghan Markle’s one-sided beef with Taylor Swift has been kicked up a notch in the past day as the two seem to be competing for the headlines and unfortunately for Meghan, it looks like Taylor is winning. Meghan Markle has spent the last few weeks drumming up hype for the second season of her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. The eight-part cooking, gardening, and hosting show dropped on the streaming platform on Tuesday and is the last of Harry and Meghan’s slew of shows produced for Netflix under their old contract. At the same time, Meghan simultaneously launched more products under her As Ever brand, another thing which she had been teasing over the past few weeks. Taylor ruins Meghan’s plans It’s safe to say the Duchess of Sussex had a lot riding on these two launches grabbing headlines and putting her in the spotlight. Unfortunately for her, Taylor Swift had a rather large announcement to make on the same day. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) The pop-superstar announced on Tuesday that she was engaged to her boyfriend of two years, Travis Kelce. Considering Swift is perhaps the most recognized musician in the world at the moment, with billions of fans across the globe, it should come as no surprise that this news would dominate the conversation and likely drown out anything else. That’s bad news for Meghan, who had likely been hoping she would be the center of attention this week. The last season of her show made headlines when it dropped, although not for entirely good reasons, but you know what they say, all publicity is good publicity. This isn’t the first time this has happened Last week, insiders claimed that Meghan was furious after the With Love, Meghan season two trailer was overshadowed by Taylor’s new album announcement which came on the same day. The Duchess of Sussex believed that the move from Swift was somehow intentional and felt that the singer had taken “all the oxygen out of the room,” leaving Meghan’s new trailer to be quickly forgotten about. While her album announcement didn’t seem like an intentional choice on Swift’s part to sabotage Meghan, this latest development seems like an awfully big coincidence. The fact she’s overshadowed Meghan twice must have made the duchess positively crimson with fury. That being said, it likely is still a coincidence rather than Taylor using her engagement to intentionally drown out news of Meghan’s new show. It’s bad luck on the As Ever founder’s part but there’s nothing she can do about it. At the very least, her show is still generating a bit of buzz, although opinions on With Love, Meghan don’t seem to have changed much from the last series.
