Tirupati district Collector S. Venkateswar set an example for the public by pledging his eyes for donation.After releasing public material and posters on the occasion of ‘National Eye Donation Fortnight’ here on Thursday along with Joint Collector Shubham Bansal, Mr. Venkateswar not only signed up as a donor by volunteering to offer his eyes, but also agreed to donate those of his father S. Venkataiah’s after his death.“We have volunteered to donate our eyes to Ruia’s eye bank, as each donor can provide vision to two beneficiaries,” he explained after submitting the necessary documents to District Medical and Health Officer Balakrishna Naik, SVRR Government General Hospital Superintendent T. Radha and Ruia’s Ophthalmology professor P.A.S. Chalapathi Reddy.The Collector also called upon the public to come forward to donate their organs and provide a lease of life to the deprived.
