As Guyana gears up for the September 1, 2025 general and regional elections, Commissioner of Police, Clifton Hicken has offered assurances that any attempt to disrupt the democratic process will be “dealt with swiftly and decisively.”“Let it be clearly understood. Any attempt to create disorder, intimidate others or break the law will be dealt with swiftly and decisively,” Hicken said on Tuesday night.In a pre-broadcast video statement released by the Guyana Police Force, Hicken said the Guyana Police Force (GPF) is fully prepared to safeguard law and order before, during, and after elections.In fact, he said the Force is “fully prepared” for the elections.“This is an important moment for our country.
