The European indices close mostly lower

The major European indices are closing the day mostly lower. The one exception is France's CAC.A snapshot of the closing levels shows:German DAX, -0.41%France's CAC, +0.44%. UK's FTSE 100, -0.11%.Spain's Ibex, -0.65%Italy's FTSE MIB, -0.72%Meanwhile in the US, the major indices have turned into positive territory and are trading near highs for the day.Dow industrial average is up 111 points or 0.25% at 45528.20S&P index is up 13.19 points or 0.20% at 6479.28.NASDAQ index is up 40.58 points or 0.19% at 21585.25With the gains in the S&P index, it would represent a new record close for the index. The previous high close was at 6468.54.The NASDAQ index is still a bit always from its record high close at 21713.14.Looking at the US yields, they have come off of their highs but the yield curve remains more positive.2-year yield 3.643%, -0.1 basis points5 year yield 3.737%, unchanged10 year yield 4.273%, +1.7 basis points30 year yield 4.943%, +3.6 basis points.The 2 – 30 year year spread as at 130 basis points. That is testing the high going back to January 4, 2022 near the same level.The 2 – 10 year spread is at 63 basis points. The earlier this year on April 17, the spread extended up to 64.8 basis points. That was the highest level going back to January 2022.After the close, Nvidia will announce their earnings. The market is pricing in a 6.2% +/- change from the options market. The current price is up $0.33 or 0.18% at $182.09. A 6.2% change implies a move of about $11.30.
