FIR against YouTuber for ‘insulting’ Mayawati, he issues apology

Ghaziabad police have booked influencer Prakash Kumar (Puneetsuperr_star), who has over 10.8 million followers on Instagram, for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on social media.According to the police, an FIR was registered against the influencer on Wednesday on the complaint of district president of BSP’s Ghaziabad unit Narendra Mohit, who is also an advocate. Following the FIR, Prakash removed the video and issued an apology on his Instagram page on Thursday.Mohit in his complaint alleged that Prakash, a resident of Ghaziabad, insulted the BSP president by addressing as “Mummy” in a derogatory manner. The advocate said the video sparked anger among BSP workers and Mayawati’s followers, prompting him to file the complaint.“Most respected sister Mayawati ji is famous in the country and abroad with respect as honourable Behan-ji. A person named Puneet has done an unforgivable and indecent act of spoiling the harmony in society. For this act, strictest punitive legal action should be taken so that in future no one can make any indecent comment against any person,” read the FIR.Apologising for the video, Prakash said, “My intention was not to hurt anyone’s sentiments but if it has hurt anyone’s sentiments, I seek their forgiveness and vow to not repeat it.
