R Madhavan gets stuck in Leh, Ladakh; Aly Goni expressed concern for flooding in Jammu & Kashmir.Over the past four days, relentless heavy rain led to havoc in Jammu & Kashmir, which saw flashfloods, landslides and the pilgrimage to the Vaishno Devi shrine being suspended. Infrastructure was severely damaged with bridges collapsing and mobile towers and electricity poles breaking like virtual twigs. While some actors and technicians are stuck in Leh, Ladakh, others in Mumbai couldn’t get through to their loved ones in the union territory for hours.On Wednesday, actor R Madhavan shared a picture of the Ladakh skyline and revealed that he’ stuck in the region because there are no flights taking off from the Leh airport. “End of August and we already have snow on the mountain tops in Ladakh. I am stuck in Leh due to the airport being shut down because of incessant rain over the last four days,” he shared on Instagram.Madhavan recalled encountering a similar situation back in August 2008, 17 years ago, when he was in the same region for a short shooting schedule of the climax of Rajkumar Hirani’s 2009 blockbuster comedy 3 Idiots, alongside Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, Omi Vaidya, and Kareena Kapoor, at the Pangong Tso lake.“Every time I came to shoot in Ladakh, like in August 2008, during a three-day schedule at Pangong Tso lake, we had to evacuate due to sudden snowfall,” he recalled in an Instagram Story. However, Madhavan added that he is still spellbound by the beauty of Leh, Ladakh. “Still, it’s breathtakingly beautiful here. I hope the skies clear up soon and planes can land so I can get back home,” he added.While Madhavan is stuck in Leh, actor Aly Goni found it extremely challenging to get in touch with his father, who resides in Jammu. Thankfully, his mother is currently staying with him in Mumbai. “My father and other relatives are in Jammu. Though networks were disrupted, I was eventually able to speak to dad; they are all fine, so it’s a big relief. But such natural calamities are a real test for us all,” said Goni.Telecom services collapsed in large parts of the union territory, leading to millions being cut off from communication and escalating problems, officials said. Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar and Kishtwar-Doda national highways was suspended and dozens of hill roads were blocked or damaged by landslides or flashfloods, they said. Several people are still missing.
