But soon after Vivek made his debut, he was the new star on the block. Years later, his cousin Akshay Oberoi started his journey as an aspiring actor but he did not get any help from his movie star cousin. In a new interview, Akshay spoke about the same and hinted that there might have been a family feud between the two families, but they are starting to come together now.In a chat shared on the YouTube channel of Cyrus Says, he was asked why Akshay did not seek any help from Vivek when he first landed in Mumbai to struggle in the movies. Akshay shared that until a while ago, no one even knew that they were related to each other but now that he is starting to get a little famous, people are discovering that he comes from the same Oberoi family.He revealed that there was no line of communication between him and Vivek back in those days and shared, “Unfortunately, for whatever reason, there wasn’t really a line of communication. Like I couldn’t pick up the phone and talk to him about it. Just the way it was. I never did it. I think now the families are doing a better job. I think all the older generation is getting a bit older and everyone’s realising that whatever happened in all these years, we can let it go. I am sure there were Punjabi ego clashes that had happened.”Despite not getting any help from that side of the family, Akshay expressed that he was grateful and shared, “I am grateful because I think, maybe, in my head, their success made me think it was possible for me. Somewhere, I was inspired by it but there was no help.”Akshay was last seen in Hrithik Roshan-starrer Fighter.
