Samsung’s got the cool kids to love its phones again

There's this perception that the proverbial cool kids tend to have iPhones while the rest own Android phones. Samsung, despite its incredible range of devices, has had to deal with that perception as well. That's been true even in its home country of South Korea where Samsung otherwise enjoys a solid brand reputation. Now, though, the company has managed to turn that perception around. Calculated moves are paying dividendsSamsung dominates the market in South Korea but it did have a tough time convincing customers in their teens, 20s, and 30s to switch from their iPhones. This demographic branded Samsung devices as the “ajeossi phone” or the uncle phone. The perception was that while older people owned Samsung devices, the younger crowd was happy with their iPhones. There's now a visible shift in the perception on social media, as reports out of South Korea highlight, with the younger demographic becoming more interested in Samsung devices thanks to their sleek designs and cutting-edge AI features. There's also data to support that the cool kids are falling in love with Samsung again. A recent poll found that 46% of respondents aged 18 to 29 said they would opt for a Galaxy device as their next phone, while only 36% of people in the same age group voted for Samsung in a poll done last year.Samsung's recent focus on slimming down its devices seems to have played a vital role in appealing to this demographic. Devices like the Galaxy S25 Edge and Galaxy Z Fold 7 have captured the consumers' attention, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in particular becoming a smashing hit not just in South Korea but in other markets across the globe. The post Samsung’s got the cool kids to love its phones again appeared first on SamMobile.
