SAIL provided about 8,000 tonnes of steel for INS Udaygiri and INS Himgiri. Rajnath Singh launched these advanced frigates. The ships are part of Project 17A. SAIL supplied steel from Bokaro, Bhilai, and Rourkela plants. This supports 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'. SAIL also supplied steel for INS Vikrant and other vessels. This reduces India's reliance on imported steel for defense.
